New Adjustable Flat Pack Former FP1-MAS-2
FEASTERVILLE, PA – (May 2008) Adding to its existing line of fixed and adjustable flatpack tooling, Manix Manufacturing, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of its FP1-MAS-2 adjustable flatpack former and cutter. This unique die is designed to form and cut leads to a surface mount reflow configuration with adjustability for body-to-bend, stand-off height, and foot length with no tooling changes. Minimal tooling changes allow for various radii and lead thicknesses.
Minimizing component handling, the FP1-MAS-2 has a shuttle mechanism for transporting the component from form stage to cut stage. This eliminates component damage due to mishandling. The die is designed to process one side of leads at a time. All adjustments are made via digital micrometers, input either in mm or inches.
Adjustability for body size, first bend, second bend, and foot length allow manufacturers to adapt quickly to layout changes. A removable nest for easy component loading is included.
By forming first, in contrast to the competition, tie bars can remain in place during transport, ensuring component leads from springing out or skewing. Leads are then cut from the tie bar, eliminating damage.
Optional quick change tooling is available for radius or lead thickness change.
