Protect Your Most Valuable
Possessions

FEASTERVILLE, PA (June 2000)
Protecting one of the smallest items used daily in PCB assembly that are typically
forgotten unless broken are the SMD Pick and Place Feeders. When viewed as a single item
its cost pales in comparison to that of a pick and place system. The result is that your expensive placement system
can be crippled from the lack of the proper tape feeder needed to complete the job. Sometimes the problem is not a missing feeder, but
rather finding one that does not work. Add to
that the problems associated with the proper storage and handling of this precious
resource and it results in lost time and revenue.
Now there is a solution. You can protect your tape feeders and prepare for
a product changeover off line safely with Manix Manufacturings line of SMD Feeder
Carts.
Why use feeder carts?
Current methods of storing tape and
tray feeders can be haphazard. Many times
feeders unused on the current set-up are placed in unused slots on the placement
systems feeder banks. As a result, they are inaccessible for your operators to
prepare for the next job. Other times unused
feeders are stacked on shelves or under tables in boxes until they are needed. This can result in damage to the feeder itself,
lost parts (typically reel holders) or both. The
solution is to store the feeders and their components in a mobile cart.
How can feeder carts help with my
production?
The Manix SMD Feeder Cart gives your
operators a secure place to put unused feeders between set-ups minimizing failures due to
improper storage or handling. When its time
to prepare for the next job, the same carts can be used to pre-kit the
placement systems tape feeder load in positive latching feeder locations using the same
numbering system as used on your placement machine. When its time to change over to the
next job, the cart is moved to the correct placement system, existing feeders on the
assembler are moved to an unused shelf on the cart and the pre-kitted feeder
set move from the numbered slots on the cart to the same number slot on the machine. You can even dedicate one cart for use when
removing the tape feeders from the previous job and another for the current set-up
minimizing changeover time.
Can I store waffle trays and tape
reels on the same cart as my feeders?
Many
of the carts will accept an option shelve for storing component trays. A Component Reel Storage Facility is available on
a selection of carts. A separate storage cart
is available pre-configured for handling component reels with a maximum capacity of over
300 tape reels per cart. The Manix Feeder Component Carts is capable of handling reels
from 7 up to 15 diameter. The
size and number of reels can be configured as needed daily.
What
else makes this cart different?
The Manix SMD Feeder Cart features
stainless steel shelves in a solid, rugged welded tubular steel framework with a powder
coated finish capped off with locking conductive casters for ESD protection. Each cart accommodates a specific placement
manufacturers tape feeder in a positive locking location.
A low center of gravity in its ergonomic design allows any operator to move the
cart effortlessly in your facility.
