Fixed and Adjustable Flat Pack Forming Systems

Cut and form flat packs to exact specifications with Manix Manufacturing's FP Series lead forming systems.   Circuit assemblers will enjoy the ease and precision in which FP systems prepare components for either thru-hole or surface mount applications.  Component manufactures will also find FP dies and presses profitable tools for providing their customers the value-added convenience of ready-to-mount devices.  Interchangeable dies, mounted to your choice of a compact manual or pneumatic press, form leads with extreme accuracy and uniformity and provide burr-free cutting to precise, repeatable lead lengths.  The economical FP-1 press is hand-lever operated, while the FP-5 (shown at left) utilizes a heavy-duty, 3" stroke cylinder.  Dual, right and left hand interlock switches ensure maximum operator safety.

FP1-MAS-2 Single Sided Adjustable Flat Pack Forming & Cutting Tool

Cut and form flatpacks with adjustability in the footpad, stand-off height, body-to-bend, and overall cut-off length. Even the radius and lead thickness can easily be changed by means of interchangeable inserts.

The unique FP1-MAS-2 cuts and forms leads to a reflow configuration. This two stage die first forms the component to reflow, then cuts the leads to the desired length. A linear slide ensures component integrity while minimizing handling. The die includes a removable component holding nest, also ensuring component integrity. All Manix dies include forming clamps, which eliminates lead to body fractures. The die is fabricated to your exact specifications by our highly experienced team of engineers and toolmakers. The die is finished in electroless nickel plating, adding to the hardness and prevents corrosion or rust.

Adjustable Dies Offer Flexibility and Economy

A pair of adjustable flat pack dies are available for those seeking flexibility and economy when throughput is not of vital concern.  The FP-1MAS adjustable die trims and forms leads on one side of the component per each press actuation.  A unique holding fixture ensures repeatability.  The FP-2MAS adjustable die trims and forms leads on two sides of the component per each press actuation.  Micrometer adjustments permit quick form changes.

Fixed Dies Ensure Maximum Repeatability

Manix fixed flat pack dies are fabricated exactly to your forming specifications.  Trimming and forming of all leads occurs simultaneously in a single press actuation, while the leads are always firmly clamped to prevent component damage or stress.  Adjustable stand-off height (0.000" - 0.250") is available on all fabricated dies.  Dies are designed and manufactured by our team of highly-experienced engineers and toolmakers.  All dies are made of hardened tool steel with a 60-62 Rockwell hardness for extended life and repeatability.  Die changeover is performed in a matter of seconds through the use of two, unique hold-down clamps.

Form IC Packages to Various Bolt Circles

The FPPL press and tooling is designed to form round TO packages to different bolt circles or even to a square or rectangular pattern. Easy to change tooling is available for different size components or different lead configurations.

Each system includes the base machine with 360 degree viewing, one set of cam tooling, a spring punch, and a spreader anvil. Changeover is performed in less than two minutes.

All leads are restricted during the forming operation Stand-off height is typically 0.125" after forming.
